Hands On : Create A Blog

Now it's time to start blogging!

We use LibGuides (online guides for research) to teach our students how to blog and to teach faculty about Creative Commons.
Need a refresher? Watch this! Or go to one of the help pages in Blogger.

Outside the Classroom

The Wing
The Wing is a student life blog that covers daily news and announcements from areas outside of the classroom. Sports, Community Service, the Arts, Publications, and Events. All of the content is student generated and it is run as a weekly Activity that we advise.

Inside the Library

I started the Library blog, InfoEagles, in the fall of 2006.  Three and a half years later, I am finally promoting it  without being embarrassed.

The school  supports the blog, and even links to it from our homepage.

Why a blog?
  1. To practice blogging so I can teach it better.
  2. To start conversations with the school community.
  3. To reflect.
  4. To post (share):  reviews,  new books, new rules,  interesting research websites or videos, and pictures of the kids  or school - they like that the best, but it brings up privacy issues.
Future Goals for InfoEagles:
  1. Library Teen Advisory Board  - take over content
  2. Find a better template
  3. Increase readership

Inside the Classroom

Modern World History Sim
The "History Sim" is a 10th grade History simulation in which students take on a variety of roles and simulate the response to a world crisis. Students take on the role of countries and heads of state as well as media and global figures and groups. It involves research skills, public speaking, web searching, and decision making.
Mrs. Levy's First Grade Class
This is a website of a local first grade teacher who blogs about the daily news and activities of her class.
